You May Now Attach FilesYou may now attach files to your posts. If you have a long essay to share that you think is too long to post, you can attach it as a file to your post. You will see "file attachment" when you create the post. It may be best to use PDF, but you can also attach Word files and many other kinds of files. The file will then appear over to the right under "Recent Attachments" but it will also be accessible from the post you create. more . . .
KEEPING KNOWLEDGE ALIVEThe problem of keeping knowledge alive, of preventing it from becoming inert…is the central problem of all education. (Whitehead, 1967 [1929], p. 5)
Learning RedefinedI am presently expanding the article into a small book called Learning Redefined: Changing the Images that Guide the Process. I will eventually add Teaching Redefined to the manuscript. My key concern are the operating metaphors, the images that guide our behaviors and how they affect the day-to-day process and thus systemically alter the eventual products. We need a new image of what it means to learn. Thanks, Dennis R. Rader
Forum for EducationI stumbled across this site recently: http://forumforeducation.org/index.php It's worth a look. Many of the leading names in education are active in this organization. Deborah Meiers, for one, has some wonderful posts, which I recommend especially to anybody who is tired of the endless testing and measurement required by NCLB.
Follow-Up on FundamentalismFundamentalism is typified by a system of values, or valuing, which rules out thought that goes beyond its own assumed structure of worth. Where a value system is closed in this manner, it becomes a value program. The distinction between the two is easily made.
